Retiree Profile: Dick Divine

Remember yesterday, cherish today and look forward to tomorrow.

Dick was born and raised in the Motor City, specifically the Alter Road, Fox Creek area on the East Side.  He describes himself as the middle child of the family of four, which might explain some of the personality quirks he is prone to have at times. They never affected his great sense of humor though, which he maintains to this day.

Dick has a varied educational background.  He was accepted to Cass Tech High School where his major interests consisted of chemistry and biology. After graduation, Dick entered Wayne State where he graduated with a degree in Economics and first met his wife Sarah.  He later obtained his MBA in Finance from Wayne, by taking advantage of the BCBSM Tuition Aid Program.

He is a man of many interests, which is evident by his participation in several activities. He showed his athleticism by becoming a member of the first Junior Red Wing Hockey Team on which he played for three years.  From hockey he had decided to take up golf.  His hockey background was displayed when his swing resembled his former slap shot.  His golf career has progressed to the point where it now supplements his retirement income with what he has won on the course.

Dick had a versatile career with BCBSM before he retired in 1999.  Space limitations prohibit a great detail of position activity so we will suffice with a listing of department areas where he served.  He began in Purchasing, moved to Systems dealing with Forms Control, Terminal Online Project, Systems Review and Legal Legislation work involving Rules Reorganization and establishment of the BCBSM PAC.

We certainly wish him well and continued success especially in the stock market where he has realized some positive results.
